Domestic violence

October 28, 2009
As you may know, October is domestic violence awareness month. I was lucky enough to take part at the candlelight vigil held at the Ala Moana McCoy Pavilion on October 28, 2009. There. I volunteered and got to witness something truly amazing and heartfelt. The speakers, which were domestic violence victims, talked about their life and how they lived with domestic violence in their household. Following this are several photos I have taken that night.
The three photos in the middle, including the photo shown on the top right, is of the Clothesline Project that the students of Honolulu Community College created.

The Clothesline Project is a program in Cape Cod, MA., in 1990 to adress the issue of violence against women.
The Clothesline Project is a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women. [1]
