  • Abuser accepts behavior as "normal," coming from an environment where violence is taught.
  • Drug/alcohol abuse and unhappiness may increase domestic violence, but isn't necessarily a cause.
  • Cycle of Violence- Learned behavior from home environment (witnessing parent against parent abuse, or child being abused by parent.) The majority of kids who watch abuse growing up or have been abused are more likely to become abusive.
